Every Neighbor Has Something to Give
There are many ways to stand with York County’s unhoused neighbors. Pick the one that fits you.
Bring Your Resources to The Beacon
The Beacon is our day resource center at 140 N. Duke Street, open four afternoons a week. Our guests come in to rest, charge phones, drink coffee, meet with advocates, and work toward stability. We invite community members to make that time even more meaningful by sharing their skills.
Lead a short, practical session during drop-in hours. No certification required, just kindness and a willingness to show up. Sessions run one to three hours.
Ideas for offerings: haircuts and grooming, manicures or hand care, guided breathing or mindfulness, chair-based movement or stretching, resume building and job coaching, budgeting basics, art or journaling, cooking demos with simple meals, digital literacy help, know-your-rights information, music or storytelling circles.
Great for businesses, church groups, civic organizations, and schools looking for a hands-on service project.
Contact Crystal Perry at crystal@fnofpa.org or (717) 699-8445 to schedule a time.
Become a Neighbor in Action
You don’t have to walk the streets with our outreach team to be part of this work. You can stand behind them.
Neighbors in Action are recurring donors — monthly, quarterly, or one-time — who keep our five-person outreach team funded and The Beacon’s doors open. We suggest $25/month, but any amount makes a difference.
You’ll receive quarterly field updates and an invitation to our annual community gathering.
Support Us as a Cornerstone Neighbor
If you’re a local business owner, you already know the health of your neighborhood affects everything. Our Cornerstone Neighbors Program invites businesses in York, Hanover, and Red Lion to invest directly in street outreach and Beacon operations.
Neighborhood Partner ($250/year): Keeps our team on the street and in the community.
Neighborhood Builder ($500/year): Strengthens the daily work of outreach and connection.
Neighborhood Anchor ($1,500/year): Sustains the relationships that lead to real change.
Neighborhood Catalyst ($5,000/year): Drives the work that transforms lives and communities.
All Cornerstone Neighbors are recognized on our website. Top tier investors include newsletter and social media features, special event invitations, and named sponsorship opportunities.

Host a Stuff the Tent Event
Bring your church, workplace, school, or civic group together around a simple goal: fill a tent with the things our neighbors need most.
A Stuff the Tent event is easy to organize and makes a visible, tangible impact. Set up a collection tent or designated drop-off area at your location, spread the word, and watch your community show up.
What to collect: gift cards (gas, grocery, pharmacy), survival gear (ask us what’s most needed right now), food items for our pantry, and financial donations to fund outreach operations.
Reach out to us and we’ll provide a needs list, signage, and encouragement to make your event a success.
