Volunteer Application
Volunteering with Friends & Neighbors can be both rewarding and challenging.
Our volunteer opportunities include: assembling survival bags and their contents, preparing “thank you” notes for donors, unpacking items, organization and other back office tasks.
The Beacon resource center also accepts volunteers for the following: Check-in attendant, beverage/snack preparation and distribution, floor monitor, kids area monitor, mail services, and restroom monitor. Due to client contact, Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older and must submit a background check upon approval.

Before submitting the application, please consider the following: Information related to those served, staff members, other volunteers, and F&N programs must be kept confidential. Also, as a volunteer, you may be exposed to persons:
- Who have a prior felony or other misdemeanor charges and may have been incarcerated.
- Who may have communicable diseases.
- Who have varying degrees of mental, emotional, or physical health issues.
- Who are currently dealing with addiction issues.
- Who may not have the opportunity to perform daily or weekly hygiene habits.
The following clearances are required to volunteer with Friends & Neighbors:
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
- Pennsylvania State Police Records Check
- Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Background Check
