Friends & Neighbors doesn’t receive government funding for street outreach. We don’t have an endowment or a national fundraising operation. What we have is a community of people who believe everyone in York County deserves someone in their corner and who put money behind that belief.

We call those people Neighbors in Action.

Friends & Neighbors of Pennsylvania, Inc. (F&N) is York County’s only comprehensive street outreach organization, building lasting relationships with people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

A recurring donor — monthly, quarterly, or annually — whose consistent support keeps our five-person outreach team employed and The Beacon open week after week.

Our advocates don’t build trust in a single visit. It takes weeks. Sometimes months. A person living in a tent or a car may not be ready to talk the first time we show up. Or the fifth. But we keep coming back, because that’s what neighbors do. Your recurring gift makes that possible.

It’s meaningful, manageable, and steady, which is exactly what this work requires. But there’s no minimum. Five dollars a month matters. What matters most is showing up consistently, the same way our team does.

A “I’m a Neighbor in Action” sticker mailed to you. Quarterly updates from the field, including real numbers, real stories, and an honest look at where things stand. Plus an invitation to our annual breakfast gathering where you can meet the team and see the work firsthand.

We receive generous supply donations from across the community. What we need most is funding for people: the advocates who walk the streets, sit with someone over a housing application, drive across the county to check on a neighbor they haven’t seen in a week. Your gift funds staff time, outreach mileage, Beacon operations, and the flexible resources that meet people where they are.
